The Dos and Don’ts

What to Eat

During the healing process, you need to eat foods that will strengthen your mouth. Because your mouth is too sore after the surgery, it is highly advisable to eat soft foods and not those regular meals you eat daily. Aside from choosing soft foods, you also have to choose those that are high in nutrients.

Try not to eat sugary foods. What you need to prioritize is eating foods that are rich in calories and protein so your body can recover in a few days or weeks.

Examples of healthy foods you can eat after your oral surgery are dairy foods such as yogurt, cheese, and milk. If the surgical site seems to be inflamed, you can try frozen yogurt to help with the swelling. Aside from dairy products, you can also include apple sauce, mashed potatoes, and eggs on your grocery list.

What Not to Eat

Hot food and beverages are not necessarily harmful. Nonetheless, you need to be wary of the temperature of the food you’re eating. Never eat foods or drink beverages that are too hot, as this can increase the risk of burns. This is especially true when you have sensitive tissues.
